We are looking for a Support Medical Secretary - Pain Management on a permanent full time basis.

You will produce a comprehensive, high standard effective and efficient administration and secretarial service to support the work of the Pain team.

You will be expected to work as directed by the Service Co-ordinator and nursing colleagues to ensure all patient correspondence relating to out-patient clinics are produced accurately and sent out to GP’s within agreed timescales.

You will transcribe and prioritise clinical dictation in line with clinical need and current published contractual targets and in accordance with current procedures, accurately and in a timely manner.

You will support when needed with booking outpatient appointments and aiding with the management of the waiting lists, ensuring that systems and procedures are developed and in place to achieve deadlines. This will also include contacting patients to ensure they are aware of their upcoming appointments.

Your role will be to transcribe and prioritise clinical dictation in line with clinical need and current published contractual targets and in accordance with current procedures, accurately and in a timely manner.

You will support the Pain Service coordinators, clinical team, and other divisional managers in ensuring the specialty are able to deliver safe and effective services whilst also ensuring compliance with contractual access targets e.g. 18week RTT.

Your role will involve interpreting the clinical information according to protocol and taking responsibility for booking appropriate appointments, communicating rejection of inappropriate requests to requesting Consultants according to published guidance and to monitor demand and wait times, identify potential breaches and escalate to the Pain service co-ordinator.

Cross cover within the admin team will also be a large part of this role, to ensure the service can carry on providing an efficient and effective service to its patients
