**About our role**: As Associate Dean and Head of Department your prime role is to provide strong academic leadership. The role requires that as Associate Dean, the role holder will have significant responsibility and accountability for the management of the academic partnership with our partner university. This includes working closely with the Dean of Faculty, maintaining a constructive and positive relationship with the university, building strong external communication lines, resolving academic related issues that may arise in conjunction with the partner and ensuring adherence to the regulations and procedures of the relevant partner university along with QAHE faculty and boards. As head of a department, you will lead, manage and develop a department of staff to ensure it achieves the highest possible standards of excellence in all its activities, supported by the Dean of Faculty, and by colleagues from within the department, faculty, and central services.**Bring your experience**:

- Doctorate (or close to completion) as role includes teaching on AACSB approved Northumbria University Business and Management programmes for which this requirement is essential-
- Successful record of leadership and programme management in at least one of the academic areas within the Faculty is essential
- Experience of effective people management including the management of diverse groups of professional staff is essential
- Experience of improving and developing learning and teaching practice is essential
- Successful track record of developing and sustaining a high quality student experience is essential
- Successful track record of improving and sustaining student outcomes is essential
- Track record of programme development and validation is desirable
- Relevant teaching qualification, HEA fellowship or significant teaching experience with a commitment to achieving the required Professional Standards for teaching is essential
