The Opportunities

We have a vacancy for a Receptionist/Administrator at the Grove Surgery Christchurch. This role will involve supporting the smooth running of the surgery by providing both reception and administrative support.

Working Pattern

  • Monday: 08:30 – 18:00 ( 1 hour unpaid lunch)
  • Wednesday 8:30-18:00 ( 1 hour unpaid lunch)
  • Friday: 08:30 – 18:00 ( 1 hour unpaid lunch)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide an effective and efficient reception service for patients and visitors.
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients, the primary healthcare team, secondary care, and other agencies.
  • Prepare and tidy consulting rooms.
  • Manage appointments, enquiries, and follow-up requests.
  • Ensure urgent cases are seen promptly and appropriately.
  • Record and relay accurate messages, including visit requests, deaths, and home visit details.
  • Support the team with a variety of administrative and clerical duties.
  • Welcome and register new patients, explaining practice arrangements clearly.
  • Assist patients courteously and efficiently in accessing appropriate services.

About You

  • Previous experience in a reception or administration role (healthcare experience desirable but not essential).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Able to multitask and remain calm under pressure in a busy environment.
  • A positive, approachable manner with a commitment to high-quality patient care.
