Environment Manager and Environmental Clerks of Works (EnvCoW)

Here at the RSK Group, RSK Biocensus are currently looking for experienced Environment Managers, and Environmental Clerks of Works to join their teams throughout the UK and especially Scotland, to support with ongoing projects. There will also be the opportunity for future roles within Southern England.
Environment and Sustainability Manager
You will manage the environmental and sustainability aspects of the projects, ensuring all parties are provided with leadership and support whilst providing advice to the wider function. You will facilitate compliance through legislative, corporate and additional requirements to ensure environmental and sustainability management, mitigation and monitoring controls are in place. You will be responsible for implementing, developing and maintaining Environmental Management Systems, so that all personnel are aware of their duties and responsibilities.
Key responsibilities:
- Support and oversee site management teams to ensure compliance with all the requirements stipulated in the environmental and sustainability plans.
- Develop and implement environmental and sustainability campaigns.
- Collate and review environmental and sustainability statistics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Produce environmental and sustainability plans, procedures and associated documents and check compliance.
- Provide reports, presentations and relevant project information as and when requested by the business.
- Drive sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, biodiversity, energy efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction.
- Liaise with regulators, stakeholders (both statutory and non statutory), consultants, and contractors to ensure compliance and progress.
- Primarily office based with site visits
You will also have the opportunity to input and review of pre-qualification, tender and environmental and sustainability award submissions.
Key experience & Qualifications:
- You will ideally have degree (s) in a relevant Environmental discipline
- You will have professional environmental accreditation
- Chartered Environmentalist would be desirable
- Appropriate CSCS card eg Professionally Qualified person
- You will have a strong understanding of practical environmental risk mitigation on significant construction projects such as waste and water management, pollution prevention measures and ecological and biodiversity mitigation.
- Previous Development Consent Order and Biodiversity Net Gain experience would also be desirable.
- Previous experience of power and renewables related projects would desirable.
- Ideally 10 years' experience in this sector (strong candidates with less experience will be considered)
If you also have knowledge of Net Zero principles and experience in Environmental Incident Management and Investigation, this would be most welcomed.

- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and management systems (ISO 14001 Lead Auditor desirable).
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and project management abilities.

- Passionate about sustainability and driving continuous improvement.
Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW)
You will support the Environment and Sustainability Manager in all aspects of delivery as above.
Key responsibilities:
- Focus on specific projects, clients, or issues
- Provide guidance, recommendations and assessments in line with overarching environmental management systems
- Conduct site assessments and associated reporting
- Contribute to meetings and Key Performance Indicators
- Review environmental impacts of projects
- Advise environmental manager of compliance with regulations
- Written reports and inspections
- Support liaison internally and externally
- Largely site based reporting back to the environment manager
Key experience & Qualifications:
- You will ideally have degree (s) in a relevant Environmental discipline
- Ideally hold professional accreditation
- Appropriate CSCS card
- Experience in environmental auditing
- You will have experience of practical environmental risk mitigation on construction projects such as waste and water management, pollution prevention measures and ecological and biodiversity mitigation.
- Ideally 5 years' experience in this sector (strong candidates with less experience will be considered)
