General Statement:
To work in conjunction with the team under the guidance of the Room Manager/Senior Room lead to ensure the smooth running of the group and the continuing education and well being of all the children therein.
Responsibilities of the post:
The following duties shall be deemed to be included in the professional duties which you may be required to perform:
- To take responsibility for identifying and meeting the needs of the children in your care at all times.
- To work with other members of the team to provide a safe, stimulating environment for learning and play, including the preparation and tidying of a range of interesting, challenging and fun activities appropriate to the ages and stages of development of the children.
- To prepare the environment in advance and make sure you set up areas appropriately, including breakfast, lunch and tea areas.
- To maintain the level of display work in designated area.
- To follow the planning schedule and rotas as set by the senior member of staff within the team throughout the whole day.
- To maintain the upkeep of other nursery areas as required.
- To work towards providing equal opportunities in all aspects of the work and to abide by agreed policies and practices within the setting.
- To maintain/support accurate online profiles for each individual child.
- Individual planning to be done for key-children (if applicable)
- To have a full understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and what is expected from this.
- To understand that the planning can be flexible and fit in with the children's needs.
- To share information with the parents in conjunction with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- To be aware of policies and practices within the nursery.
- To ensure that any parents of children who have had accidents throughout the day have signed the accident form.
- To adequately enforce the security policy so that all children are collected by the correct person, and ensure that all children have been signed out on the daily signing in and out sheet.
- Assist parents with any concerns or enquiries where possible, in a polite and professional manner. If unable to adequately answer any question, to refer them to a Nursery Manager.
- To undertake any training required.
- To contact the Nursery Manager if absent as soon as possible for alternative cover to be arranged.
- To arrive 10-15 minutes before start time In order to ensure everything is as it should be. To ensure that at the end of the day all equipment is tidied away and that the building is left clean, tidy and secure.
- To participate in team meetings when appropriate, usually outside normal working hours.
- To be responsible for safe and hygienic maintenance of equipment, ensuring that all worn or damaged materials are reported to the nursery managers.
- To maintain confidentiality of children and families.
- To take due care of yourself and for others at work.
- To show effective communication skills at all times, and to ensure a high level of courtesy and respect is always shown to children and parents.
- To act in a responsible manner towards the children at all times.
- To work flexibly on the different sites as required.
- To follow the code of conduct for the nursery.
- To maintain a professional appearance at all times, adhering to the dress code as set for each department. Uniform must be worn at all times.
- To maintain an acceptable level of personal hygiene.
- To be aware of need to report any safeguarding concerns immediately

Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development
- Support children's learning through play-based methods and personalised care
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children at all times
- Observe and record children's progress, sharing insights with parents and colleagues
- Manage daily routines including meal times, nap times, and outdoor activities
- Foster positive behaviour and social skills through encouragement and guidance
- Collaborate with management to develop programmes that meet regulatory standards and organisational goals
- Lead by example in demonstrating excellent management and leadership skills within the team
- Assist with organising parent meetings and providing regular updates on children's development
- Drive organisational initiatives that enhance the quality of early childhood education
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in a childcare or nursery setting is highly desirable
- Demonstrated management or leadership skills within an early years environment
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Experience with child safeguarding policies and procedures
- Valid driving licence is preferred for roles involving transportation responsibilities
