This role is suitable for individuals who enjoy data input, coding and filtering correspondence to the most appropriate team member to help maximise patient care. The post holder will need to have excellent attention to detail, excellent IT skills, be a good time manager and be able to prioritise workload effectively whilst ensuring the document management process is accurate and completed to a high standard in line with practice policy and procedures. The post holder will be part of a team and required to work resourcefully and will require innovation, flexibility, empathy and commitment.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

· Transfer relevant data from clinical correspondence to patient records, code each problem appropriately, paper or electronic.

· Scan and attach patient related documents to clinical record and workflow where appropriate.

· Identify and refer any clinical actions to the most appropriate clinician.

· Manage and distribute emails from the Clinical Email Inbox.

· Enter new patient registrations onto system.

· Manage chronic disease registers and ensure all relevant patients receive annual invite either by text or letter.

· Manage Day book, and action or delegate tasks as appropriate.

· Attend and participate in practice and team meetings.

· Attend any training relevant to the role, along with mandatory training both internally and externally.

Staff will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the organisation, whilst working within the culture of improving working lives and working time directive

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

· Experienced clinical coder with knowledge of medical terminology.

· Excellent communicator both written and verbal.

· A working knowledge of both Vision and Docman along with strong IT skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.

· Needs to maintain confidentiality and data security.

· Must be adaptable and comfortable dealing with changing priorities and be flexible in approach to practice needs on a day to day basis.

· Proven ability to concentrate in a silent environment for sizeable periods of time with full attention to detail a priority.

· Act on own initiative in prioritising and managing workload, in respect of clinical, managerial, and administrative areas, as necessary.

· The ability to make confident decisions ensuring patient safety at all times.

· Manage and maintain own personal development as agreed at your annual review.

· Excellent team worker with respect for both colleagues and patients alike.
