Job Title: Compliance & Health & Safety Coordinator
Location: Head Office in Capel, near Dorking
Working Hours: 2 or 3 days per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: Starting at £40,000 pro-rata, dependant on relevant experience
Contract Type: Part-Time, Permanent
Scapes Group Ltd. is a privately-owned facilities management company, delivering high-quality cleaning and grounds maintenance services across London and the South East. Our clients include housing associations, private estates, care homes, local authorities, and commercial offices.
Scapes Group is looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Compliance & Health & Safety Coordinator to lead our compliance framework, governance standards, and safety culture across the organisation. In this influential role, you will ensure our teams, operations, and partners meet all regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements—including ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 27001 and accreditations such as Constructionline, Safe Contractor, Achilles, and PCA.
Reporting to the HR Director, you will act as the company's expert on compliance, governance, and Health & Safety, driving continuous improvement and embedding best practice across every department.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead compliance with regulatory standards (GDPR, ISO frameworks, etc.).
- Conduct internal audits and manage corrective actions.
- Liaise with accreditation and regulatory bodies.
- Manage SARs, DPIAs, and maintain the compliance document library.
- Coordinate compliance and H&S training programmes.
- Approve and monitor subcontractor and supplier compliance.
- Maintain and update RAMS, COSHH assessments, and DSE reviews.
- Support group governance, sustainability, and ethical standards.
- Maintain governance registers and provide guidance on legal obligations.
- Log and track incidents, supporting investigations and follow-up actions.
- Oversee the review and approval of organisational policies and SOPs.
About You
- Experience in compliance, governance, Health & Safety, or regulatory roles.
- Strong understanding of H&S legislation and ISO standards.
- Confident conducting audits and managing risk.
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement ability.
- Detail-focused, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Passionate about safety, ethics, and driving continual improvement.
We offer a competitive salary starting at £40,000 pro-rata, dependant on relevant experience, 28 days paid holiday which increases after 5 years' service, pension scheme and the opportunity to work in a great team within a growing organisation.
