Volunteer - Support Parent Carers
As we head into 2026, you might be thinking about trying something meaningful and new. Supporting parent carers can make a real difference.
As a Parent Carer Volunteer, you will work alongside our carer advisors to support parent carers across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
You will help at local hubs, workshops, trips and online sessions, creating a welcoming space where parent carers can relax, share experiences and access support. From greeting people and making refreshments, to joining in with group activities and helping out at community events, your role will be about making people feel comfortable, valued and understood.
If you are approachable, friendly and enjoy connecting with others, this is a great opportunity to make a real difference to families in your community.
Where you will be based
You will be volunteering across Cambridgeshire, supporting both face-to-face sessions and virtual sessions via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
In-person hubs are usually held monthly across the county, often in local cafés or community venues such as Madingley Hall, where carers can meet for a walk and chat. There are also occasional trips and events for parent and adult carers.
The benefits of volunteering with us
Volunteering with Caring Together is a rewarding way to support others while gaining new experiences and connections.
As a volunteer, you will:
- See the positive difference you make in the lives of parent carers.
- Meet new people and be part of a friendly, supportive team.
- Gain confidence and develop new, transferable skills.
- Receive full training and ongoing support.
- Have your reasonable travel expenses reimbursed
We truly value our volunteers and will make sure you feel supported, appreciated and part of the Caring Together family.
Your commitment
This is a flexible, community-based role. We ask that you are available to attend monthly hub sessions and occasional trips or events, as well as any necessary training or support meetings.
All volunteers must agree to follow Caring Together's guidance, policies and procedures, including safeguarding and confidentiality.
Is this the role for you?
If you are caring, approachable and enjoy helping others, this could be the perfect role for you.
You do not need specific experience - just enthusiasm, empathy and good communication skills.
If you can listen, offer encouragement and bring a positive attitude, you will be a valued part of our team.
