Volunteer - Support Young Carers

Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom Caring Together Charity Full time

If you are interested in supporting young people in 2026, we would love to hear from you.

As a Young Carer Volunteer, you will help support our young carers at groups, workshops and trips. You'll assist our session leads in creating a safe, welcoming and fun environment where young carers can relax, make friends and enjoy time away from their caring responsibilities.

If you are friendly, enthusiastic and enjoy spending time with children and young people, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference while gaining valuable experience and having fun along the way.

Where you will be based.

Our young carer groups run in Huntingdon, St Ives and Peterborough, with trips and activities taking place during school holidays in various locations across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

You may also be invited to join workshops or day trips held during half term and summer holidays. Some travel may be required, and all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

The benefits of volunteering with us.

Volunteering with Caring Together is a rewarding and enjoyable way to support young carers and develop new skills.

As a volunteer, you will:

· See the positive impact you make in the lives of young carers.

· Meet new people and become part of a friendly, supportive team.

· Gain confidence and learn new, transferable skills.

· Receive full training and ongoing support.

· Have reasonable travel expenses reimbursed.

Your commitment.

We ask that you are available to support regular group sessions and have good availability during half terms and school holidays for trips and events.

You will attend any required supervision meetings or training and agree to follow Caring Together's policies and procedures, including safeguarding and confidentiality.

An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role (the cost will be covered by Caring Together).

Is this the role for you?

You don't need specific experience – just enthusiasm, patience and a caring nature. If you can listen, join in, and encourage young people to get involved and have fun, you'll be a great fit for our team.

We are always happy to discuss the role with you to explore how your skills and interests might best match our needs.

About Caring Together.

Our vision is a world with no unpaid carer in crisis, isolated or struggling alone.

Three in five of us will become a carer at some point in our lives. Caring Together is an ambitious regional charity that provides emotional and practical support, information, and advice to carers of all ages and their families, as well as opportunities to take a break from their caring role.
