We have an excellent career opportunity for the role of Health Care Assistant to join our team here at Kirklands Care based at our Highfield House Care Home in Whitehaven.

We're looking for cares who can works Days and Night shifts.

Pay: We have an excellent pay rate of 12.50 an hour.

Contract: We have 33 hours per week available

Shift patterns:

  • 7am to 7pm
  • 7pm to 7am
  • This post will be a mixture of day/night shifts

Who are we?

Welcome to Highfield House – our nursing and care home located in the beautiful coastal town of Whitehaven. Our highly qualified, experienced and compassionate team are ready and waiting to welcome you to the newest addition to the Kirklands family.

As soon as you arrive at Highfield House, you'll receive the warmest of welcomes. As the first facility in the Kirklands care group to also offer nursing care, you'll quickly become part of a wonderful family of residents, and staff who can provide the support you need to live comfortably and in dignity with us.

Highfield House provides residential care for up to 67 people of mixed physical and cognitive ability, as well as nursing care for a range of needs, including Dementia, Parkinson's disease and mental health issues.

Key responsibilities:

  • To help the residents to lead as full a life as possible, to assist with activities for the residents, e.g. handicrafts, games, reading, etc.
  • To help with serving of meals and assisting residents where necessary. Helping to clear away the dishes afterwards.
  • To make drinks when required. Clear away and wash up afterwards.
  • To report any change in residents condition to the manager.
  • To report incidents to residents, staff or visitors to the Manager, who will record it in the accident record book and to complete an accident report form.
  • To care for residents property and that belonging to the home as directed.
  • To care for equipment and report any defects to the Manager.
  • To accompany residents to activities outside the home where necessary.
  • To help wash and dress residents when necessary.
  • 1To help residents with their toilet requirements.
  • To assist with any other duties if required.
  • To clean up spillages as they occur using appropriate equipment supplied and as specified in the Control of Infection Policy.
  • Being a really fun person who is reliable and a team player :)
