About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Administration Officer to join our front-of-house and Roma Ward team at Gloucester Health Service. In this important role, you'll be the welcoming face of our hospital - providing a calm, professional, and compassionate presence to patients, families, and visitors, often during times of need.
As a key member of our team, you'll deliver high-quality administrative support to both the ward and emergency department, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and accurate medical record management. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy environment, takes pride in their organisational skills, and values contributing to quality patient care within a supportive rural health setting.
About Us
Located on beautiful Biripi Country, Gloucester Health Service is part of the Rural and Regional Health Service within the Hunter New England Local Health District.
Our facilities include a 14-bed General Ward, a busy 3-bed Emergency Department, and an Operating Theatre offering General Surgery and Ophthalmology services supported by local and visiting medical professionals. A co-located Community Health Centre, providing a wide range of nursing and allied health services.
You'll be joining a close-knit, positive, and resilient team that values collaboration, kindness, and professionalism. Our workplace culture is supportive and encouraging, and we take pride in maintaining a positive environment where every member is valued and respected.
What You'll Be Doing
Every day will bring new challenges and opportunities to make a difference. As an Administration Officer, you will:
- Be the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors—both in person and over the phone.
- Manage general enquiries, direct calls and visitors, and provide information in a friendly and professional manner.
- Support clinical staff by ensuring the accurate creation, handling, and filing of medical records and patient documentation.
- Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks for the ward and Emergency Department.
- Maintain a calm and organised approach during busy or high-pressure situations.
Your professionalism and reliability will play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment and supporting the hospital's commitment to excellent patient care.
About You
You are a calm, capable, and customer-oriented professional who takes pride in providing excellent service and working as part of a team that makes a real difference to the community.
You'll Bring
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in administrative processes.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
- The ability to remain composed and efficient in a busy healthcare environment.
- A proactive, "can-do" attitude with a willingness to learn.
While specific tasks and processes can be taught, your natural empathy, professionalism, and commitment to patient care are non-negotiable.
What We Offer
At Gloucester Health Service, we believe in supporting our people so they can deliver their best work. You'll receive comprehensive orientation and ongoing development opportunities to ensure you succeed in your role.
You'll Receive
- Onsite orientation and training provided by an experienced Level 3 Administration Officer.
