A rare opportunity to join our Defendant Clinical Negligence and Regulatory team in Sheffield.
About The Role
The Insurance & Reinsurance Group are busy and continue to grow. They are looking to hire into the Sheffield Defendant Clinical Negligence and Regulatory team at the 4 PQE+ level. The team is known for representing Defendants in complex, high value, high profile, clinical negligence matters including class-actions. They also have a wider regulatory practice, advising healthcare professionals in proceedings before their regulators, in Public Inquiries, in Inquests and general advisory matters.
The wider team handles a wide range of interesting insurance and re-insurance matters and work nationwide. Key areas of work include: (i) wide ranging professional indemnity disputes (particularly defending claims against finance professionals, solicitors, insurance brokers); (ii) financial lines, W&I, marine, reinsurance and cyber risks; (iii) complex policy coverage matters and (iv) insurance advisory (including drafting and advising on binding authority agreements, claims handling agreements, service agreements and TOBAs).
You will have the opportunity to work with an enviable client base, including the leading Medical Defence Organisation, many of the leading insurers and major brokers. The team are known for being highly commercial in their advice and offer the prospect of working closely with key clients, alongside being encouraged to develop your own contacts/network in the market.
This role is in our dedicated defendant Clinical Negligence and Healthcare Regulatory Team in Sheffield, working along-side our London team. You will also have the opportunity to provide general advice on a wide range of topics, on regulatory matters e.g. the General Medical Council, Inquests and Inquiries.
Although the team is Sheffield based, we will consider applicants who are Manchester based.

The right individual will have experience gained at a recognised clinical negligence practice, City, insurance, major regional or leading international firm with strong experience handling clients in major insurance undertakings.
You will have excellent drafting skills and the ability to deliver practical and commercial advice. Due to the role being client facing, you will need to have sound judgement and good interpersonal and project management skills.
