We are partnering with a US listed Shipping group to recruit an Interim Head of Reporting & Accounting for a 9–12 month fixed-term contract. This senior position will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial accounting and reporting across the UK and international entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall accounting and external reporting function, ensuring full compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and SOX standards.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements, ensuring high levels of accuracy and integrity.
  • Manage the financial close process end-to-end, delivering timely and complete financial reporting.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, coordinating audit activities and deliverables.
  • Support the organisation's SEC reporting obligations in partnership with the US head office.
  • Supervise the preparation of UK statutory financial statements and manage relationships with local auditors and advisors.
  • Provide expertise on technical accounting matters, including complex revenue recognition, impairment testing, and asset accounting.
  • Strengthen and maintain robust internal financial controls, while identifying and driving continuous improvements across accounting and reporting processes.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of professional accountants and analysts, fostering growth and high performance.
  • Collaborate closely with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Operations to ensure cohesive financial management and strategic alignment.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent)
  • Strong post-qualification experience (minimum 5 years), ideally within a listed multinational
  • Proven experience in the shipping/natural resources sector is desirable
  • Deep technical knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and SOX compliance
  • Prior experience with SEC reporting and working within a US-listed environment preferred
  • Strong audit management experience, including Big 4 background advantageous
  • Hands-on experience leading finance teams and driving improvements in reporting and controls
