About the Job

The role of the Senior P&C Operations Executive is to co-ordinate and deliver cyclical HR processes across Employee Relations (ER), Learning & Development (L&D) and Talent Management, alongside other operational HR processes, ensuring these are completed in line with policy, quality standards, and agreed timelines. The postholder will maintain accurate workforce data, ensure robust reporting, and support P&C operational planning and improvement.

This role is pay band 4, with a starting salary of £48-50k depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations (ER)

  • Monitor and coordinate cyclical ER activities such as probation reviews, absence triggers, and policy reviews.
  • Support the tracking of formal and informal casework and ensure accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Support P&C Business Partner on ER casework co-ordination and delivery including:
  • Providing the HR support to managers for foundational ER caseload, including attendance, conduct, or performance matters.
  • On occasion, act as the impartial investigation manager for foundational grievance and disciplinary matters, both formal and informal, as appropriate.
  • Ensuring casework documentation and templates are consistent and aligned with CBI policies, and employment legislation.
  • Maintain accurate records of case progression and outcomes within HR systems.

Learning & Development (L&D)

  • Oversee cyclical training compliance checks and mandatory training renewals.
  • Produce L&D compliance reports and support data-driven learning needs analysis.
  • Draft communications for staff to complete training and initiate reminders
  • Support in drafting training material for core HR and CBI policy topics
  • Owner of our e-learning platforms, completing user admin, managing the supplier relationship, and supporting the P&C Talent and Organisational Development Director in identifying relevant learning content and pathways

Talent and Performance

  • Co-ordinate annual appraisal and talent review cycles, tracking completion rates and maintaining talent and succession planning data.
  • Support the implementation of talent development initiatives.
  • Administer culture surveys and measurement as directed by Talent & Organisational Development Director.
  • Support the recruitment process by uploading job adverts, and gathering and collating applicant and candidate data, using AI where appropriate to summarise insights for the P&C Partnering & Operations Lead and hiring managers.

Key HR Operational Processes

  • Support the P&C Partnering and Operations Lead and other internal stakeholders with key processes and projects, such as wellbeing initiatives, CBI governance processes, annual salary review and pay, reward and recognition processes.
  • Manage the Family Leave process, holding Family Leave meetings with colleagues to provide information on the CBI's offering for parents, and processing the leave & pay elements with the P&C and CBI Payroll teams.
  • Alongside the P&C Operations Executive, conduct new starter and family leave returner inductions, and ensure a positive joining/re-joining experience.

Data Management and Reporting

  • Alongside the P&C Operations Executive, maintain and update core HR systems, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of employee data across all HR processes.
  • Generate regular management information and compliance reports across ER, L&D and Talent.
  • Support P&C with data insights and analysis to inform strategic workforce planning.
  • Develop dashboards or metrics summaries to help managers and senior leaders monitor talent trends

Quality, Policy, and Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure all cyclical HR processes are completed on time, consistently applied, and compliant with CBI policies, legislation, data protection and audit requirements.
  • Identify process improvements and contribute to standard operating procedures for cyclical HR workstreams.
  • Support audits, policy reviews, and the maintenance of accurate guidance materials and templates.
  • Contribute to the development of an efficient, high-quality HR service that supports both compliance and employee experience.

Stakeholder and Customer Service

  • Act as a first point of contact for queries relating to cyclical P&C processes and reporting.
  • Communicate clearly with managers, staff, and P&C colleagues regarding process timelines, expectations, and progress.
  • Build effective relationships across directorates to ensure joined-up delivery of P&C activities.

Essential:

  • Experience working in a generalist HR or HR operations role.
  • Knowledge of key HR processes including ER, performance, and training.
  • Strong data management and reporting skills, with attention to accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills to manage multiple cyclical deadlines.
  • Proficient in HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • CIPD Level 3 (or working towards) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience producing workforce metrics or compliance reports.
