The Role: Full-Time PE & AP Coach (30 Hours)

This is a dual-role position, perfect for an experienced coach or educator who wants:

  • stability (30 guaranteed hours)
  • progression
  • a meaningful coaching career, not just session delivery

Your week will be split between:

1. Alternative Provision (Mon–Wed) – Peterborough

Deliver 1:1 or small-group sessions for children with SEND, SEMH, or who require a non-traditional, movement-based learning environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • planning and running bespoke sessions
  • building emotionally safe, trusting relationships
  • aligning work with EHCP outcomes
  • modelling professionalism, reliability, and Play Their Way practice

2. PE & Sports Coaching (Thurs–Fri) – The Spinney Primary School, Cambridge

Deliver engaging, inclusive PE lessons and after-school clubs using EcoCoach schemes of work.

You will:

  • lead PE lessons across KS1 and KS2
  • support lunchtime/after-school sport
  • manage behaviour calmly and consistently
  • adapt activities to SEND needs
  • build positive relationships with staff and children

3. Additional Cross-Site Support

As part of EcoCoach's senior delivery pool, you may be deployed to:

  • Hawthorn Primary (Kettering)
  • Saint George's Primary (Stamford)
  • Holiday camps (Cambridge / Kettering / Stamford)
  • Short-notice cover where needed to protect provision

You must be willing and able to drive across the region confidently.

Key ResponsibilitiesAlternative Provision

  • Deliver safe, structured, child-led sessions using movement, sport, and play
  • Support emotional regulation using trauma-informed practice
  • Maintain professional boundaries and high-quality documentation
  • Work collaboratively with parents, schools, and local authorities

PE & School-Based Coaching

  • Teach high-quality PE aligned with the national curriculum
  • Deliver after-school clubs and lunchtime activities
  • Adapt lessons for mixed abilities and SEND
  • Follow EcoCoach behaviour, safeguarding, and H&S expectations

Teamwork & Professional Standards

  • Communicate promptly using agreed systems
  • Maintain a 100% reliability culture
  • Represent EcoCoach with professionalism at all times
  • Support new coaches and model expectations
  • Attend training, supervision, and CPD

Essential Requirements

You must have ALL of the following:

  • Minimum Level 2 Sports Coaching qualification (or Level 3 TA/QTS/Playwork)
  • At least 1 year coaching/working with children
  • Strong behaviour management and safeguarding knowledge
  • Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain)
  • Full UK driving licence + your own car
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites
  • Emotional intelligence and calm under pressure
  • Reliability and commitment to EcoCoach values

Desirable Skills

  • Experience delivering:
  • SEND sessions
  • Alternative Provision
  • 1:1 movement-based programmes
  • PE lessons in primary schools
  • Play Their Way / child-led coaching
  • Trauma-informed practice knowledge
  • Experience with SEMH pupils
  • Ability to take initiative and lead

Pay & Hours

Mon–Wed (AP): £17.50–£20.00 per hour

Thurs–Fri (PE/School Work): £15.00–£17.50 per hour

Guaranteed 30 hours per week, term-time only, with optional holiday camp work available.
