Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Warehouse operative to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various tasks within the warehouse environment, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality control. Training will begin early December for 1 week, dates to be confirmed. The position will start 5th January 2026. Two Saturday morning shifts per month are required.

Duties

  • Serving customers using computer software. (Training will be given).
  • Taking card and cash payments.
  • This role involves answering phone calls from suppliers and customers.
  • Load and unload goods from lorries and containers, ensuring safe handling of all materials.
  • Picking and packing orders
  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment as needed for materials handling.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using a warehouse management system.
  • Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, ensuring prompt processing of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Conduct quality control checks on products to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Organise stock within the warehouse, ensuring that items are stored correctly and efficiently.
  • Perform regular maintenance checks on equipment and report any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational goals and maintain a clean work environment.

Skills

  • Proficiency in operating forklifts is essential; certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems for tracking inventory is advantageous.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge to assist in troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Experience in shipping and receiving processes within a warehouse setting.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively, as required by the role.
  • Excellent materials handling skills to ensure the safe movement of goods.
  • Attention to detail for quality control checks and stock organisation.
  • Processing and checking stock deliveries into Sage system.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.
