Pay: £38-£42k per annum

Hours: 40 Hour Salaried Contract; weekend flexibility required

About Outbuildings Dorset

Outbuildings is a family-run farm hotel nestled in West Dorset, combining rustic charm with modern luxury. With 11 uniquely converted farm buildings set in scenic countryside, our adult-only hotel invites guests to unwind in serene comfort while enjoying curated food, film nights in The Hay Barn Cinema, and woodland hot tubs.

The Role: Head Chef

We're seeking a Head Chef who is as inspired by the Dorset landscape as we are. Someone who celebrates local produce, values sustainability, and brings imagination and flair to every plate.

You'll have the freedom to shape menus, experiment with ingredients grown right here on our farm, and build strong relationships with local suppliers, all while leading a small, dedicated kitchen team to deliver a memorable dining experiences. This is a great opportunity for a chef who wants to be a part of an established brand that is seeking to push their dining offering to new limits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire, and develop the kitchen team to deliver dishes that reflect creativity, quality, and a sense of place.
  • Craft seasonal menus using produce from our garden and ingredients sourced from trusted local suppliers.
  • Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including planning, ordering, and cost control.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • Uphold all food hygiene and safety regulations, ensuring a clean and organised kitchen.
  • Mentor and nurture kitchen staff, encouraging learning, collaboration, and pride in every dish.
  • Be a positive, proactive presence within our small, close-knit hospitality team.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or senior position in a quality establishment.
  • A deep passion for local produce, sustainability, and seasonal cooking.
  • A creative and forward-thinking approach to menu development.
  • Strong leadership skills and a genuine team spirit.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • A calm, adaptable, and motivated attitude in a dynamic environment.
