Wrights Foodservice are an established family-run wholesale provider of dairy, fruit, veg, and frozen products to the hospitality and catering industry. Based in Poole, Dorset, our customer base covers Dorset, Hampshire and South Wiltshire.

Our family run company offers deliveries 6 days a week of over 2,500 different product lines that a commercial kitchen might require.

Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Customer/Client Relationship Manager to develop pre-existing customer relationships and nurture new business opportunities.

This role is office based with little need to travel off site, unless desired. You will position yourselves as a pivotal link between the external sales team and our internal telesales and administration personnel.

This position offers the opportunity for a self-confessed customer focused people person to build deep relationships and understand our customers' needs to generate more sales.

Renumeration is from £32,000 per year, with the opportunity for a performance based bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Client relationship/key account management
  • Maintaining and enhancing existing relationships while identify new growth opportunities
  • Serve as a key point of contact for client communications, ensuring satisfaction and long-term retention.
  • Reviewing customer spends on monthly/quarterly basis and reporting against these in line with sales revenue targets
  • Taking responsibility for ensuring a smooth adoption of new clients
  • Building relationships to make Wrights their go to wholesale food supplied
  • Lead generation & prospecting
  • Identify and qualify potential clients through market research, networking, and outbound outreach.
  • Sales & revenue growth
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve or exceed targets.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive proposals, and pitches to prospective clients.
  • Input customer orders including sufficient details for sales/ ops handovers
  • Prepare and convert quotes
  • Growing the variety of customers
  • Increasing average customer spend
  • Market & competitive analysis
  • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities, trends, and customer needs.
  • Monitor competitor activities and recommend strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Strategic partnerships
  • Identify, negotiate, and establish strategic alliances or partnerships that support business growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver value-added solutions.
  • Reporting & forecasting
  • Track key performance metrics and prepare regular business development reports.
  • Provide insights and forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Collaboration with internal teams
  • Work closely with finance, operations, marketing and product teams to ensure client needs are met.
  • Provide feedback to enhance product offerings or service delivery.

Key skills:

  • Sales & negotiation– Strong ability and hunger to close deals, negotiate effectively, and manage objections. Proven success in B2B outbound telesales.
  • Communication & presentation – Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Relationship building – Skilled at networking, rapport-building, and maintaining long-term professional relationships.
  • Market research & analysis – Ability to identify trends, understand customer needs, and assess market potential.
  • Strategic thinking – Proactive in developing and implementing growth strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Computer proficiency - Experienced use of Microsoft products including Outlook, Word, Excel. Ability to grasp new IT programmes quickly.
  • Problem solving & adaptability – Resourceful in overcoming challenges and adapting to dynamic market conditions.
  • Time management & organisation – Able to manage multiple accounts, leads, and projects efficiently.
  • Team collaboration – Works effectively with cross-functional teams to drive projects and achieve common goals.
  • Financial & commercial acumen – Understands pricing structures, ROI, and revenue modelling to drive profitability.
  • Flexibility - A willingness to step into other operational roles, if necessary, to fulfil a potential non-standard requirement for a key account.

Additional:

  • Experience in the wholesale food industry is preferable, but not essential.
  • 3+ years of experience in key account management/business development is essential.
