Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support educators in providing an inclusive and engaging learning environment for students. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities, including autism. This role is essential in fostering the academic and social development of students, ensuring they receive the support necessary to thrive.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering lessons and educational activities tailored to the needs of students.
- Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs, including those with autism and other disabilities.
- Help create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and engagement from all students.
- Support the care and supervision of toddlers, ensuring their safety and well-being during activities.
- Collaborate with educators to develop individualised education plans (IEPs) for students requiring additional assistance.
- Maintain clear communication with teachers, parents, and other staff regarding student progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special education and child development.
Skills
- Experience working with people with autism and other disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to engage children in learning activities effectively.
- Previous experience working with children in educational or care settings is essential.
- Knowledge of special education practices and principles is advantageous.
- Ability to provide high-quality toddler care, ensuring a nurturing environment for young learners.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
