Introduction

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our care environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys preparing high-quality, nutritious meals and contributing to the wellbeing of residents through excellent food service.

About the Role

As a Chef, you will be responsible for planning and preparing daily meals, ensuring food quality, safety, and presentation meet high standards. You will manage stock efficiently, work within budget, and help maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment. You will also supervise and support kitchen staff while fostering a positive, collaborative working atmosphere.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare daily menus that meet residents' nutritional needs and preferences
  • Cook meals that are appetizing, visually appealing, and budget-friendly
  • Monitor food stock levels and place orders when needed
  • Maintain accurate inventory and order records
  • Ensure safe and hygienic food storage, preparation, and service
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff
  • Implement health and safety procedures
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness, including regular deep cleaning
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions
  • Build positive relationships with residents and respond to feedback

Skills and Attributes

  • Proven experience as a Chef in a healthcare or hospitality setting
  • Strong cooking skills and knowledge of various techniques
  • Good understanding of nutrition and dietary needs
  • Effective time management and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Ability to train and supervise staff
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays

Education and Qualifications

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to work toward higher certification)
  • First Aid certification
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Food Preparation or Catering
