About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to join our team, responsible for planning and preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals for our residents. You will ensure that all meals are fresh, delicious, and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, health, and safety.

As a vital member of our home, you will inspire your team and contribute to creating a positive dining experience for our residents.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare daily menus that cater to the nutritional needs and preferences of residents.
  • Prepare meals that are appetizing, well-presented, and cost-effective.
  • Monitor stock levels and order supplies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of food orders and inventory.
  • Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and served in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure consistent quality.
  • Implement and uphold all health and safety regulations.
  • Keep the kitchen clean, safe, and organized at all times.
  • Attend training sessions and staff meetings as required.
  • Build positive relationships with residents and respond to their feedback professionally.

Skills and Attributes

  • Proven experience as a Chef, ideally in a care home or hospitality setting.
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of diverse cooking techniques.
  • Understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements for older adults.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to train and motivate kitchen staff.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Education and Qualifications

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (willingness to work towards Intermediate Food Hygiene).
  • First Aid Certification.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Food Preparation/Catering (or equivalent).
