We're now seeking a dynamic Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of our Bournemouth flagship.
--- Role Purpose To support the General Manager in delivering outstanding guest experiences, running smooth daily operations, and driving commercial performance. The Assistant Manager will lead from the front — upholding brand standards, motivating the team, and ensuring Tap & Tandoor Bournemouth operates with consistency, energy, and excellence.
--- Key Responsibilities Guest Experience & Service Lead a warm, engaging, guest-first culture across all FOH operations Ensure smooth service delivery during peak trading, including match days, weekends, brunches and events Resolve guest feedback professionally and promptly Maintain exceptional standards in service, presentation, cleanliness and ambience Ensure 2-for-1 cocktail promotions, bottomless brunch, Sunday lunch and in-house activations are communicated clearly to guests --- Operational Leadership Support the General Manager in the full running of the venue Deliver high service standards across bar, floor, and entertainment zones (interactive darts & shuffleboard) Assist with daily opening & closing routines Ensure compliance with licensing, health & safety, food safety and company policies Oversee cleanliness, line checks, stock counts, beer cellar quality and all FOH systems Ensure chalkboard promotional messages are executed correctly and maintained --- Team Leadership & Development Lead by example and maintain a positive, professional presence on the floor Train, coach and support FOH team members Support onboarding of new staff Help manage rota planning, labour control and shift deployment Drive high morale, teamwork and accountability --- Commercial Performance Support delivery of weekly and monthly revenue targets Assist with monitoring labour percentages, cost control and waste reduction Support bar GP, beer yield, stock management and ordering Execute upselling strategies (poppadoms, starters, premium drinks, desserts) Help deliver marketing activations and campaigns for scratch cards, loyalty pushes, seasonal menus & events Maintain consistency with brand guidelines and in-pub merchandising --- Technology & Systems Confident use of systems including: Lightspeed POS Nory or rota platform Booking systems Ensure accurate cash-ups, end-of-day reports and operational logs --- Experience & Skills Required Previous experience in a supervisor or assistant manager position within hospitality Strong leadership and people-management skills Excellent communication and guest-handling abilities High personal standards and attention to detail Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Ability to coach and inspire teams Understanding of labour control, stock processes and commercial metrics Confident with tech and operational systems Warm, guest-focused personality with a passion for hospitality --- What We Offer Competitive salary + performance incentives Staff food and drink benefits Training and development, with potential progression into management roles across the Tap & Tandoor group Supportive, people-focused culture The chance to be part of one of Bournemouth's most exciting new venues
