The Tutor Train is an award-winning tuition company supporting children aged 4–18 across Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, Northampton, and beyond. Our qualified teachers provide tailored 1-to-1 and small-group tuition in homes, online, and within school settings, helping students thrive academically and emotionally.

The Role
We're looking for enthusiastic qualified history teachers (QTS) to join our growing team of tutors. You'll deliver engaging, personalised history tuition across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students to strengthen their understanding of key historical themes, develop analytical and evaluative skills, and prepare effectively for GCSE History exams.
Tuition includes a mix of:
- Pupils attending school who need additional subject-specific or exam preparation support
- Students who are electively home educated (EHE) working towards GCSEs or functional skills
- Learners with medical needs or those receiving education other than at school (EOTAS)
You can choose to teach in person or online, with flexibility to fit around your lifestyle and existing commitments.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging history lessons tailored to each learner's needs.
- Support GCSE preparation, including source analysis, essay structure, and exam technique.
- Help students make meaningful connections between historical events, people, and themes.
- Assess progress and provide regular feedback to students, parents/carers, or schools.
- Maintain professional boundaries and uphold safeguarding standards.
- Complete safer recruitment and onboarding checks before commencing tuition.
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent secondary teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching History at KS3 and KS4 (GCSE).
- Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for bringing history to life.
- A passion for helping young people thrive and reach their potential.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).
- Commitment to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
