Assembly Technician

Evolve Dynamics is an engineering company specialising in UAV aircraft, systems and software based in the United Kingdom. We provide best in class mission specific surveillance and special purpose aircraft for public sector services, private security and defence.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assembly Technician. This is a full time position, based in Farnham, Surrey. Hours 0900 to 1730 GMT Monday to Friday.

Skills/Experience:

  • Strong soldering skills to IPC standards and proven experience as an assembly technician or similar role in the electro-mechanical industry, preferably in the UAV industry but training given in this field.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical principles and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Good computer skills for documentation and record-keeping.

Bonus:

  • Qualifications/certification in electro-mechanical technology or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge/experience of drones/UAVs specifically configuration knowledge.

Role:The successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly, disassembly, testing, and troubleshooting of the various UAV products we offer. This role requires attention to detail, a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical principles, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assembly and Configuration of Components:

  • Assemble systems according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to perform precise assembly tasks.
  • Ensure all parts are assembled to specifications and meet quality standards.
  • Conduct functional testing of assembled components and systems to verify performance and identify any defects or issues.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with electro-mechanical assemblies, and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • You will be able to diagnose and resolve technical issues with UAVs, including mechanical, electrical, and software problems.
  • Rework of PCB level components using schematics, and work instructions.
  • Document test results and any corrective actions taken.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect components and assemblies for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Report any quality issues to the appropriate personnel and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of assembly and testing processes, including any deviations from standard procedures.

Process Improvement:

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance assembly processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving product design and manufacturing methods.
  • Be involved in the generation of assembly instructions of new and existing products.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Comply with industry standards and regulations related to electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Keep work area clean and organised, and properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with engineers, designers, and other technicians to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth production flow.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and review sessions.
