Flourish Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Groups and Engagement Coordinator to join our services in Northern Adelaide

The position available is:

  • Ongoing part-time (30.4 hours/fortnight)
  • Based in Salisbury
  • Working a rotating roster based on the needs of the service including weekdays and weekends
  • Attractive salary starting at $88k per annum (pro-rata) + Super + Tax-Free Salary Packaging.
About the Opportunity 

As a Groups and Engagement Coordinator, you will work closely with frontline staff, partner organisations and other external stakeholders to enhance the social group projects and initiatives delivered to people accessing the service to build their capacity and independence. As a Groups and Engagement Coordinator, you will be working in a consortium model and your role will include supporting both consortium organisations. You will deliver and co-facilitate group programs and workshops on relevant topics, develop and maintain partnerships to increase the group program offerings, and develop strategies to increase attendance and awareness of social support groups and other initiatives. 

As a Groups and Engagement Coordinator, you will: 

  • Develop, contribute, and engage in planned social support group projects, focused on capacity building and increasing confidence, including planning and reviews. 
  • Coordinate with team members, partner organisations, and other relevant stakeholders to develop and deliver a wide range of group activities and initiatives. 
  • Grow the scope and number of group social support activities offered by Flourish Australia. 
  • Deliver and co-facilitate training and education sessions on topics relevant to people accessing the service, such as healthy eating, physical health, alcohol and other drug use. 
  • Increase the average attendance at group programs and achieve agreed attendance targets.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate strategic partnerships to improve outcomes for people who access the program, including with various organisations, other service providers and government departments.

Please note - Successful candidates must maintain a Class C drivers license and proof of comprehensive insurance must be provided when required. You may be directed to use your private motor vehicle when an organisational pool motor vehicle is unavailable. You will receive the Travelling Transport and Fares Allowance when using your private vehicle for work related purposes.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in human services or relevant field or a relevant Certificate IV in mental health related discipline
  2. Demonstrated experience in facilitation, development, delivery and evaluation of group learning activities.
  3. Demonstrated experience in community engagement, health promotion, and building effective relationships with other service providers. 
  4. Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by people with a lived experience of a mental health issue and how providing a recovery-oriented service is of benefit to people.
  5. Understanding of public sector and community-based service systems relevant to people with a lived experience of a mental health issue and psychosocial disability and demonstrated experience navigating such systems and using capacity building and education to achieve positive results.  
  6. Demonstrated strong communication, advocacy and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, facilitate outcomes and prepare reports in clear and concise language.
  7. Current unrestricted Australian drivers' licence.

Desirable:

  1. A qualification in training and assessment, adult learning, or related field.
  2. A personal lived experience of a mental health issue or a carer of a person with a lived experience.
