Autism Support Assistant - Enfield - January 2026

Autism Support Assistant - What the Role Involves

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for students with autism across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Helping pupils access learning, manage transitions and develop confidence in the classroom
  • Supporting teachers with lesson delivery, behaviour routines and differentiated activities
  • Assisting with personalised interventions and structured support plans
  • Encouraging positive social interactions and emotional regulation throughout the school day

Autism Support Assistant - What the School is Looking For
The ideal candidate will be proactive, calm under pressure, empathetic and genuinely committed to supporting young people with additional needs. Schools highly value applicants with a 2:1 or First-Class degree from a top 30 UK university, alongside any previous child centred experience. Strong communication skills, resilience and a willingness to learn are essential.

Autism Support Assistant - Salary and Contract Info

  • £444 per week, pro rata to term time only
  • Full-time, long-term contract (September-July), term-time only
  • Opportunity for teacher training or extended contract following a successful placement
