Locality Services Officer (Level 3)

About this Locality Officer job in Canterbury:

The role of the Locality Officer is key in the council's commitment to ensure we investigate all ASB, tenancy fraud, statutory nuisance and enforcing tenancy breaches. In this role, you will be:

  • Responsible for case management of all antisocial behaviour and statutory nuisance complaints, completing full investigations, evidence gathering and taking legal action where required. This will include attending court when required.
  • Carrying out visits to residents
  • Managing cases to a high standard
  • Working with colleagues to cover all aspects of the team which also includes, Community Safety and Environment Protection Working pattern
  • Full-time, 37 hours per week
  • Flexible, hybrid working arrangements
  • A full week off over Christmas in addition to your annual leave allowance

About you, the ideal Locality Officer for our team:

Your knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of Housing Legislation and knowledge of the legal processes
  • Good knowledge of the Housing Act 1985
  • Knowledge around Antisocial Behaviour and the Antisocial Behaviour and Policing Act 2014
  • Knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1990

Your skills

  • Communicates clearly and effectively to diverse audiences in writing and verbally on a range of topics
  • Influencing and persuading skills
  • Ability to work with a degree of autonomy as well as being an effective team player.
  • Ability to change working practises in line with legislative changes
  • Good technical skills
  • Excellent communications skills

Your experience

  • A working background in Housing, Environmental Protection or similar preferable, but not essential if you have transferable skills.

Essential

  • Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check as part of their pre-employment clearances.
  • You need to have your own car and a full driving licence for this post
