About the Role

Cineon is seeking an experienced and versatile Researcher to drive the research agenda across our diverse portfolio of projects, spanning healthcare, military, and aviation performance. This role combines deep scientific expertise with client engagement, shaping the future of training and therapy through Extended Reality (XR), wearable technologies, and immersive tools.

You will lead research initiatives, manage study design and execution, and interface with clients to translate complex research findings into actionable insights. Your work will underpin data-driven innovation, supporting machine learning and human performance optimisation.

This role is ideal for a candidate with broad sector knowledge and experience/expertise in eye-tracking research, who thrives in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, design, and manage research and evaluation studies involving human participants Oversee data collection, processing, and analysis, including eye-tracking and behavioural data
  • Conduct literature reviews, horizon scanning, and contribute to methodological innovation
  • Communicate research findings clearly to clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Write high-quality reports, manuscripts, and documentation for both academic and applied contexts
  • Represent Cineon externally at client meetings, demonstrations, and conferences
  • Mentor and support junior researchers, ensuring research quality and protocol adherence

About You

We're looking for a researcher who combines scientific rigour with creativity and enthusiasm for emotion and psychological technology including immersive tech, AI, and wearables. You will combine strong analytical skills with excellent communication and enjoy bridging research with real-world applications.

You will likely hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and have hands-on experience designing and conducting human research studies, although we will also consider strong candidates with an MSc.

Essential

  • MSc or PhD in Psychology, Human Factors, Cognitive Science, Cognitive Neuroscience or a closely related field
  • Experience with eye-tracking technologies and quantitative data analysis
  • Strong analytical, communication, and scientific writing skills
  • Experience with human data collection and ethical research practices
  • Proficiency in a programming language (Python preferred) and data analysis tools (e.g. Python data stack)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines

Desirable

  • Experience managing and collecting large datasets for human research studies
  • Experience with developing and evaluating custom eye-tracking quantitative analysis techniques
  • Experience with machine learning, deep learning, or AI techniques in the context of physiological or time-series data
  • Experience managing or supervising more junior researchers to learn how to collect data according to a research protocol
  • Familiarity with XR, VR, or AR environments
  • Familiarity with wearable eye-tracking glasses
  • Understanding of human performance and applied psychology
  • Enthusiasm for research that bridges science and real-world application
