Senior Quantity Surveyor

Cardiff

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Team at Galliford Try.

Ideally, you will based in or around the Cardiff area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.

What you will be doing:

Commercial & Contractual

  • Analysis of tender allowances
  • The measurement and valuation of works (on site and from drawings), for valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Agreement of valuation dates and preparing, submitting interim valuations in accordance with those dates.
  • Administering and/or advising on Main Contract and Subcontract conditions
  • Subcontract and Design Procurement
  • Subcontract payments, variations and final accounts
  • Submission of Cost Value Reconciliations
  • Preparation of cost to complete

Financial Reporting

  • Cash management and maximisation
  • Cash Flow and Turnover forecast
  • Provision of standard reports
  • Internal Valuations/CVRs and subcontract liability reports in accordance with schedule of accounting period end dates and deadlines

About You:

  • Professional Qualification (e.g HNC/HND/Degree/Diploma) or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors 
  • Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting 
  • Excellent team player whilst also holding the ability to work independently on own 
  • Excellent time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to encourage and support other members of the commercial team  
  • You will have experience of working within the Construction industry for a main contractor, specifically on Design and Build; as well as sound knowledge of JCT and NEC Conditions of Contract
  • Consideration to candidates of an infrastructure / housebuilding background will be considered
  • Having sound Public sector experience is preferrable
  • Experience of two stage open book collaborative approach is desirable
  • You will be degree qualified and member of the RICS or IOB (or moving towards professional membership).
