We are Chol. A dynamic and socially conscious theatre company and registered charity based in Yorkshire since its founding in 1989. We work with children and young people (CYP) from early years to early career across Yorkshire and the North, prioritising work in Kirklees, Barnsley, Sheffield and Rotherham. Our approach is entirely collaborative, working in everyday community and educational settings to co-create stories that are rooted in communities and local heritage. We are looking for a finance and admin lead to support the day-to-day running of our organisation. Tasks will include:
- Producing reports, providing accurate financial information.
- Performing regular bank reconciliations.
- Acting as One of two bank signatories.
- Liaising with external accountant on year end, Charity Commission returns
- confirmation statements etc.
- Producing and updating cashflow documents.
- Leading on the development and management of annual budgets, supported by
- Chol directors.
- Processing transactions.
- Running monthly payroll.
- Maintaining good attention to detail.
- Maintaining a grant management system to ensure reporting requirements are met.
• Overseeing policies in partnership with all Chol directors.
Essential:
- Belief in and commitment to Chol's programme and mission
- A demonstrable commitment to anti-racism, justice, equity, diversity and
- inclusion
- ACE NPO organisational experience
- Quickbooks
- Charity Accounts
- Purchase ledger/sales ledger.
- Bookkeeping
- Knowledge of UK Payroll legislation, PAYE, NI, pensions and theatre union
- agreements
- The ability to work independently, self motivating, as well as working sensitively
- and adaptively in a team
- Good IT skills, especially excel.
- Strong communications skills
- Excellent time management
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
Desirable
- Experience of updating and maintaining Arts Council England's Illuminate system
- A willingness to undertake training as required for the development of the post
- An appetite to support the growth of Chol and therefore the growth of the role.
- Understanding and/or experience of HR, contracting, data protection, and governance
• An interest in the development of the Finance Lead role
Contract and Renumeration
Start Date:
November
Contract:
An initial Fixed Term contract until the end of the financial year, 2026 (April 5th) is offered for this part time role of 2 days a week (16 hours a week). Days to be worked will be agreed to meet the needs of Chol and the employee but it is likely that one of those days would be Monday for the weekly, online Chol- Operative team meeting, and our monthly in person meeting.
Salary:
The annual salary is £32,500 FTE (£13,000 pro rata) (flat Chol-Operative rate)
Pension:
Should the role extend beyond this initial term, the postholder will be enrolled into Chol's company pension scheme (NEST). Chol makes employer contributions at the current statutory minimum rate of 3% with employee contributions of 5%
Holiday:
The full time holiday allowance is 30 days including all bank holidays. For this part time role, holidays will be calculated at the pro-rata rate when a start date has been agreed.
Location:
All members of the Chol-Operative are supported to work flexibly.
We encourage a mix of remote and in-person working. The Chol-Operative usually meet in person once a month, these meetings can take place in or around Sheffield, Barnsley or Huddersfield.
