Lighthouse Futures Trust is an SPI (Specialist Post-16 Institution) and a registered charity that was established in 2018.
Our focus is on supporting young adults, aged 16-25, to gain the social and employability skills they need to find and sustain paid employment.
Our main eligibility criteria are that: they want to progress to paid work. They have an EHCP (Education Health Care Plan); are autistic and/or have mild to moderate learning difficulties or other support needs.
We have exceedingly high success rates in terms of helping students move into employment or specialist training and, in February 2023, our Ofsted rating was Good, scoring Good in two categories and Outstanding in two categories.
As an Employability Job Coach, you will be responsible for supporting a caseload of adults (18–30) with disabilities and/or vulnerable people to build confidence, develop employability skills and move towards paid work or meaningful volunteering.
Our principleprogrammes are:
Pre-internship: this lasts for 10 months and is primarily based on our college site, but includes regular trips and business visits, as well as inviting external business speakers in.
Supported internship: this lasts for 10 months and includes 3 days a week on site with a major local employer.

As An Employability job coach, you will:
Support Personal Growth: Guide those on the programme to build in confidence, self-esteem, and work-based skills.
Facilitating Engaging Group Sessions: Plan and facilitate employability related sessions.
Individualised Coaching: Provide tailored support in the participants communities and further into the workplace, including planning and delivering induction activities.
Profiling: Complete a vocational profile with each participant to ensure effective individualised support is implemented and maintain and update accordingly.
Collaborate & Monitor Progress: Work with colleagues to set, track, and record progress against personal and work-based targets.
Foster Independence: Help those on the programme to develop essential life skills like travel training, financial literacy, and self-advocacy.
Build Employer Partnerships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers and other stakeholders, ensuring they successfully support and help to secure paid work opportunities.
Ensure Safety: Conduct risk assessments and follow all safeguarding procedures.
Manage Administration: Complete necessary paperwork efficiently to support the successful completion of the programme. Liaising with wider stakeholders such as the Local Authority and report in a timely and accurate manner.
Reporting: Measure and monitor participant outcomes and engagement
Recruitment: Support the recruitment of participants onto the programme and ensure engagement and completion
Represent Lighthouse Futures Trust: Professionally represent the organisation at events and meetings.

- Ensure that all relevant policies and procedures are always followed including (but not exclusively) Health and Safety and Safeguarding.

- Be flexible and work according to needs, performing any reasonable duties as requested by SLT and your Line Manager which may involve assisting other areas of LFT.
- To ensure all aspects of work are done to the highest standards.
Person specification
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Essential
Qualifications required: GCSE level or equivalent in Maths & English.
Experience required: Experience of supporting adults into work or towards employment; Experience of supporting adults with disabilities and/or vulnerable people in a professional or personal capacity; Experience of providing information, advice and guidance relating to employability; and Experience of developing strong working relationships with employers and external stakeholders.
Skills and Knowledge required: Excellent interpersonal skills; Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and wider stakeholders; Good oral and written communications skills; Ability to plan, organise and prioritise; Excellent attention to detail; Excellent report writing skills; Comprehensive IT knowledge including word processing, excel spreadsheets; Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and wider stakeholders; Understanding of data protection and confidentiality; Understanding of safeguarding; and Driving license or willingness to travel around the city as required.

Desirable:
Qualifications include: Teaching qualification; Coaching; and Level 3 or above in Advice & Guidance or equivalent.
Experience includes: Experience in an education/ community setting; Experience of planning and delivering sessions; Experience of recruitment either in-house or within an agency; and Experience of conducting risk assessments.
Skills and Knowledge that are desirable include: Knowledge of vocational profiling; Motivational Interviewing/ coaching techniques; Labour Market Information for the local/ national area; and Access to vehicle.
