Role:
Mobile Device Specialist (Temp-to-Perm)

Location:
Cardiff, UK (on-site 5 days/week)

Contract:
Initial 3 months, potential permanent conversion based on performance

Purpose:

Manage enterprise mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, hotspots) across their lifecycle—provisioning, configuration, security, troubleshooting, and compliance—ensuring devices operate efficiently and meet organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Device Provisioning & Configuration

  • Deploy and configure mobile devices for users.
  • Manage mobile profiles, apps, OS updates, and integrate with Apple Business Manager and Android Enterprise.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and lifecycle records.
  • Example:
    Enrolling a new employee's iPhone in Intune, configuring security policies, and deploying necessary business apps.

Security & Compliance

  • Enforce mobile security policies (passwords, encryption, remote wipe).
  • Monitor and remediate vulnerabilities in coordination with cybersecurity teams.
  • Ensure devices comply with organizational standards.
  • Example:
    Detecting a vulnerability in a company tablet and remotely updating it to prevent security risks.

Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide Tier 2–3 support for hardware, connectivity, and application issues.
  • Coordinate repairs, replacements, and warranty claims with vendors.
  • Example:
    Resolving a tablet that won't connect to corporate Wi-Fi and liaising with vendor support for a hardware fault.

Lifecycle Management & Documentation

  • Track device inventory, usage, and lifecycle status.
  • Support procurement and decommissioning processes.
  • Maintain documentation on device configurations, policies, and procedures.
  • Example:
    Logging the retirement of old devices and preparing them for secure disposal.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Associate's degree in IT (Bachelor's preferred)
  • 2–4 years of enterprise MDM experience (Intune, MobileIron, VMware Workspace ONE)
  • Familiarity with mobile security standards
  • Certifications preferred: Vendor-specific MDM, CompTIA Security+

Other Notes:

  • UK workers must report on-site to Oakleigh House, Cardiff.
  • Temp-to-perm opportunity based on performance after the 3-month contract.
