OPAL-RT Technologies is looking for an Application Engineer.
This position is hybrid or remote (anywhere in the UK).
OPAL-RT is a leader in real-time simulation, rapid control prototyping (RCP) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing for the design, testing and optimization of control and protection systems used in power grids, power electronics and electrical drives. Our solutions are aimed at various industries such as the energy industry, automotive, railways, and aeronautics, but also at R&D centers and universities. Several multinationals use OPAL-RT SYSTEMS: EDF, EADS, DCNS, ABB, GE ENERGY, RENAULT, TOYOTA, GENERAL ELECTRIC, SNCF, CEA, CERN, NASA, etc.
Surpassing and stimulating challenges:
As part of the development of OPAL-RT Europe's activities, and under the supervision of the Technical Team Leader, the Application Engineer is responsible for the technical support provided both to OPAL-RT Europe's customers and to the internal teams.
Mission:
- After-sales technical support: on a day-to-day basis, he will provide technical support to existing customers and carry out projects and deliveries for new customers the commissioning of the systems as well as the training of users.
- Training and commissioning.
- Pre-sales technical support: upstream of projects, he will provide support to the various sales managers by carrying out feasibility studies or demonstrations.
The candidate must be very rigorous and attentive to the client. He/she will be responsible for providing quality technical service and maintaining good relations with both clients and team members.
Regular international travel (duration of 2 to 5 days between 1 to 2 times per month) is to be expected throughout the duration of the mission.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Management of customer technical support and customer projects :
- Live processing of support tickets opened by customers.
- If necessary, request level 2 or 3 support and follow-up of the file with the R&D. department at the head office in Montreal.
- Follow-up of current projects in collaboration with the technical director.
- Participation in the purchase of equipment.
- Definition and execution of tests before delivery.
- Logistics follow-up of deliveries.
2. Training & Commissioning :
- Commission our systems at customer sites and provide user training either on-site or remotely.
- On-site or remote user training
3. Pre-sales support :
- Implementation of hardware and software demonstrators
- Product demonstrations at events (trade fairs, seminars)
- Carrying out feasibility studies for prospects
- Participation in the technical pitch to prospects
- Supporting sales managers in the field
Requirements:
- Education: Diploma in the fields of electrical engineering.
- Experience: Ideally significant experience in modeling complex systems such as electrical conversion and drives, mechatronic systems, control/command. Beginners accepted, depending on the profile
- Languages: fluent in English.
- Job Competencies: Modeling Tools: MATLAB/Simulink.
