The Vacancy

What is the role

As the group Financial Controller, the role will involve working closely with the CFO, overseeing both financial and management reporting, managing transaction processing functions such as in-house accounts payable and receivable, leading the audit process, and being responsible for internal controls.

You will oversee a team comprising two direct reports and three indirect reports, playing a pivotal role in the financial processing for the business and own the implementation of a new finance system.

What you will do

Financial Leadership

  • Own the production of timely and accurate monthly financial and management accounts, and statutory reporting.
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and cost control across the business.

Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Manage external audits and liaise with auditors and advisors.

Team Development

  • Lead and mentor a talented finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Support team development through coaching, training, and clear goal setting.

Process & Systems

  • Drive continuous improvement in finance processes and reporting.
  • Implement a new finance system and embed automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and control.

What you will bring

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified.
  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller role, ideally within retail or consumer goods.
  • Demonstrated success delivering systems upgrades or implementations.
  • Strong understanding of multichannel retail operations and inventory accounting.
  • Effective people manager with a coaching-led approach.
  • Strong technical skills and an eye for process improvement.
  • Enjoys thriving in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and commercially minded.
