Head Chef – Lead Our Coastal Kitchen

We're a friendly, independent bar restaurant tucked away on the stunning North Norfolk coast – and we're seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Chef to lead our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences.

Overview

This is a brilliant opportunity for a passionate chef with strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a flair for innovative menu creation. You'll oversee all aspects of kitchen operations—from food prep and presentation to inventory control and team management—while crafting hearty, high-quality dishes that celebrate local produce and seasonal flavours. Whether it's pub classics or coastal specials, your creativity and attention to detail will shape our food offering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a small, tight-knit kitchen team, fostering a collaborative and efficient environment

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure consistency, quality, and smooth service during peak hours

  • Develop and update menus that reflect current culinary trends and local ingredients

  • Manage inventory, food costs, and supplier relationships to maintain operational efficiency

  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high hygiene standards

  • Support dietary needs and ensure special requirements are met safely and accurately

  • Monitor staff performance, provide training, and support professional development

  • Collaborate with restaurant management to enhance customer satisfaction and service delivery

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or strong Sous Chef ready to step up

  • Background in fine dining or high-volume hospitality settings, with banquet experience preferred

  • Strong skills in food production, menu planning, and kitchen management

  • Excellent cooking abilities and a genuine love of local, seasonal food

  • Knowledge of inventory control, food safety, and handling procedures

  • Experience with catering and dietary services is highly desirable

  • Calm, organised, and detail-oriented with strong leadership and communication skills

  • Flexibility across daytimes, evenings, and weekends
