Head Chef – Lead Our Coastal Kitchen
We're a friendly, independent bar restaurant tucked away on the stunning North Norfolk coast – and we're seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Chef to lead our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Overview
This is a brilliant opportunity for a passionate chef with strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a flair for innovative menu creation. You'll oversee all aspects of kitchen operations—from food prep and presentation to inventory control and team management—while crafting hearty, high-quality dishes that celebrate local produce and seasonal flavours. Whether it's pub classics or coastal specials, your creativity and attention to detail will shape our food offering.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a small, tight-knit kitchen team, fostering a collaborative and efficient environment
Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure consistency, quality, and smooth service during peak hours
Develop and update menus that reflect current culinary trends and local ingredients
Manage inventory, food costs, and supplier relationships to maintain operational efficiency
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high hygiene standards
Support dietary needs and ensure special requirements are met safely and accurately
Monitor staff performance, provide training, and support professional development
Collaborate with restaurant management to enhance customer satisfaction and service delivery
Requirements
Proven experience as a Head Chef or strong Sous Chef ready to step up
Background in fine dining or high-volume hospitality settings, with banquet experience preferred
Strong skills in food production, menu planning, and kitchen management
Excellent cooking abilities and a genuine love of local, seasonal food
Knowledge of inventory control, food safety, and handling procedures
Experience with catering and dietary services is highly desirable
Calm, organised, and detail-oriented with strong leadership and communication skills
Flexibility across daytimes, evenings, and weekends
