CAMHS Clinical Lead: NELFT Community Eating Disorders Service

We are looking for a full time Clinical Lead who is a systemic psychotherapist with substantial experience of treating eating disorders to join our well established NELFT London Community Eating Disorder Service.

The successful candidate will play a lead role in shaping the ongoing development of the service and the team, including identifying and responding to new opportunities and further developing our clinical pathways.

In line with the NELFT vision, they will be committed to developing a service that provides good quality care for service users and their families, delivered by a skilled and committed team, as well as ensuring the work environment is inclusive, innovative and supportive.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Strategic lead, the Team Manager, the CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrists and senior clinical colleagues, alongside the wider team. With colleagues, they will be accountable for the ongoing development and delivery of a comprehensive community Eating Disorder Service for CYP including the intensive community treatment pathway and for the clinical standards to which the service operates. They will also play a central role in maintaining effective working relationships with key external stakeholders, including colleagues in primary care, from the North central and east London CYP Eating Disorder Provider Collaborative, the ICBs and other statutory and voluntary agencies.

  1. In collaboration with NELFT EDS service Lead and senior clinical and medical colleagues, provide leadership, and promote initiative,

creativity and motivation to ensure staffs personal development and training needs are addressed.

  1. Coordinate the implementation of service developments and changes ensuring that all operational implications are considered and

disruption to services is minimised.

  1. To participate/lead in the development of an effective team and the development of productive working relationships throughout the

Trust.

  1. To actively promote integrated health professional working internally and externally.

  2. To facilitate the development of a positive and supportive team culture by taking responsibility for dealing effectively with potential

conflict.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement for Outer London – 15% of basic salary, with a minimum of £4,551 and maximum of £5,735, pro rata for part time staff.

Our team was established as a lifespan Eating Disorder Service in 2013, offering specialist assessment and treatment to people aged eight and above withan eating disorder, we are currently commissioned to AN, BN, BED and OSFED.. Comprising a full multidisciplinary team of therapists, specialist nurses, dietitians, psychiatrists, assistant psychologists and admin staff, we provide NICE compliant treatments to adults and young people with primary eating disorders, as well as specialist support to families and carers.

We offer structured Intensive Community Treatment pathway called HIVEfor young people at risk of needing admission to Specialist Eating Disorder Units and access specialist inpatient and day patient care through our membership of local Provider Collaboratives, in which we play an active part. We are committed to developing and disseminating expertise in our field, collaborating with colleagues from within and beyond NELFT in carrying out research and offering placements to students from all our constituent disciplines.

We are proud to have been awarded with full QNCC accreditation in 2022 which is a marker of the high quality service we provide to our patients and families, we are currently undergoing our re-accreditation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the service continues to provide this high standard of care.

We are also proud to be one of the few eating disorder services in the UK that has fully integrated Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) into the treatment offered to families.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To provide clinical leadership and quality control to ensure adherence to evidence-based models in eating disorders and ongoing therapist development.

  1. To set, implement and evaluate clear, achievable and measurable objectives for EDS with the service lead, service manager, Consultant psychiatrists and pathway leads.

  2. To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them, particularly safeguarding.

  3. To ensure and have advanced knowledge of effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.

  4. To take a lead in ensuring that the team remains inclusive, well supervised, and well supported with opportunities for growth and development.

Clinical Skills

  1. The post-holder will be a post-graduate qualified systemic psychotherapist fully registered with UKCP/AFT. We welcome applicants who are dual qualified eg clinical/counselling psychologists, social workers, nurse specialists.

  2. To be responsible, and accountable, for service delivery to clients, via NICE compliant pathways for eating disorders.

  3. To be able to assess and develop plans of care to meet the complex needs of clients with a variety of conditions.

  4. To provide clients and families with information and education thus ensuring they have meaningful choices that promote dignity, independence and quality of life.

  5. To ensure practice is supported by research, evidence based practice, literature and peer review.
