The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need.

We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities.

We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people.

Our work-based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas:

  • Nursery Workers
  • Teaching Assistants
  • Leadership/Management; and
  • Customer Care.

We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council's Job Shop.

Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.

Lead Tutor – Study Programme (16–25 Provision)

Are you an experienced and passionate educator looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking dedicated Lead Tutor to join our Study Programme team and play a key role in delivering life-changing learning opportunities for young adults.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver high-quality learning programmes that empower learners to achieve their personal, educational, and employment goals. Working closely with the Delivery Manager, you will support the coordination of our 16–25 provision, ensuring that both learners and staff receive the highest standards of support.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the delivery of engaging and impactful learning programmes.
  • Coordinate curriculum planning and ensure high-quality teaching across the Study Programme.
  • Line manage Learning Support Assistants and support the management of tutors.
  • Mentor and coach tutors to enhance teaching practice and learner outcomes.
  • Contribute to quality assurance, continuous improvement, and programme development.
  • Support learners to progress confidently toward their goals.

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and dedicated Lead Tutor to join our forward-thinking service. You will play a key role in supporting young adults aged 16–25 to develop their skills, achieve their goals, and progress into further education, training, or employment.

As an inspiring educator, you will bring strong teaching experience—ideally within adult or post-16 education—and a genuine commitment to inclusive learning. In this leadership-focused role, you will support tutors, coordinate high-quality curriculum delivery, and work closely with Learning Support Assistants to ensure every learner receives the guidance and support they need.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Strong teaching experience, preferably within adult or post-16 settings
  • A commitment to inclusive education and learner success
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to inspire both learners and colleagues
  • Confidence in supporting learners aged 16–25 with diverse needs
  • The Right to Work in the UK (please note that sponsorship is not available)
  • Willingness to undergo a DBS check (this post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974)
