Digital Catapult is equipping the UK to be future ready by accelerating the practical application of deep tech. We're looking for an enthusiastic Economic Analyst who is committed and passionate about turning complex data into powerful insights that shape innovation strategies, inform policy, and drive sustainable economic growth.
In this role, you'll work at the forefront of the UK's deep tech ecosystem—playing a vital role in supporting and collaborating with senior stakeholders, interpreting and analysing economic and innovation-related data on market trends, emerging technologies, and the impact of innovation programmes that support some of the country's most exciting industries. Your work will support evidence-based decision-making, influence innovation policy, and help contribute to a more productive, competitive future for the UK.
WHAT YOU'LL DO (Duties)
Analyse and interpret data from a wide range of sources—including government reports, market intelligence, innovation studies, and proprietary datasets—to uncover meaningful trends.
Apply advanced economic and analytical methods to assess and analyse the economic impacts of technologies such as AI, 5G, immersive, quantum, and advanced manufacturing.
Deliver high-quality insights through clear reports, dashboards, and presentations tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Inform strategic decision-making, providing evidence-based analysis that shapes Digital Catapult's programmes, pilots, and partnerships.
Evaluate the economic and productivity impacts of emerging technologies and innovation interventions.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners across industry, academia, and government to ensure consistency and alignment with wider innovation policy goals.
Work closely with Operations, Programme Management, and Data & AI Services to extract and analyse value from internal CRM and programme data.
Support thought leadership, contributing to articles, briefings, and publications that position Digital Catapult as a trusted source of innovation and economic insight.
Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyse spatial and economic data.
Strong analytical and economic research skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights clearly within a regulatory or public sector environment.
Confidence working with large datasets and applying economic methodologies and models.
Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate business needs into analytical requirements and identify data-driven solutions.
Experience of producing high quality reports, dashboards and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences and providing specialist advice.
Curiosity about emerging technologies and their real-world economic impact.
Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and engage diverse stakeholders.
Good understanding and experience in spatial analysis, mapping and using GIS tools (ArcGIS or Mapbox) is desirable.
A good understanding and previous experience within research and data visualisation.
Enthusiastic and committed.
Deadline for Applications: 19th December 2025
