About this Role
We are looking for a dynamic, passionate and skilled teacher to lead an exciting development in SEND provision for young people 11-16 across the South Devon area. Our new SEND unit will provide 20 places for young people with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) from Year 7 to Year 11. All students attending the unit will have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
We are incredibly excited about this project. It will provide much needed high quality provision for learners currently not attending settings, as well as furthering the inclusive capacity both of KEVICC and other mainstream schools in our area.
You will first and foremost be an excellent teacher who leads by example and is fully committed to meeting the needs of young people in the provision and inspiring them to be happy and successful in their education. You will have a track record of always putting young people first, the practical skills to teach and care for young people with significant barriers to learning, and the ambition to lead a provision that will change lives for young people in our community and be a beacon of excellent across our area.
Our provision will be in a fantastic setting on the KEVICC site, with newly-refurbished facilities including extensive outdoor space and learning spaces that enable a blend of academic and outdoor and practical learning. We will be welcoming our first students in January 2026, with an ambition to reach our full capacity for September 2026.
As lead teacher, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the provision, planning and delivering learning that meets the individual needs of our young people with a team of colleagues, as well as liaising with mainstream KEVICC colleagues to provide a blended experience for students where appropriate. You will have the chance to work with colleagues who share your commitment to the absolute best for our young people, and who value working in a proudly comprehensive setting that is inclusive and kind.
You will also draw the benefit of being part of our trust network, where as part of Education South West we collaborate across South Devon to educate our young people to live great lives.
If you are an exceptional teacher, with energy, vision, a great work ethic, and a good sense of humour, and someone who can lead and inspire others, we would love you to join our team.
We welcome and always encourage prospective candidates to get in touch informally ahead of application, and would be happy to show your our facilities as they are being constructed, and connect either face to face or online to discuss further the unique project we are undertaking. If you would like to get in touch, please email Alan Salt, Principal, directly on
