This includes the necessary basic and detailed engineering and effective technical support throughout the lifecycle of the projects.You will be working on a portfolio of projects in the ScottishPower core projects team, and will be contributing to the UK Next Zero TargetWhat you'll be doingActively promote professional development, competency management and continuous improvement.Perform all duties with a strong emphasis on health, safety, quality, innovation and environment compliance,Lead the development of pre-contract design and delivery of projects, particularly the technical aspects of civil engineering works.Prepare basic and detailed engineering specifications and designs for concrete foundations, access roads, steel structures, drainage and buildings associated with the SP Transmission network.Define and review civil engineering requirements for input to System Construction Authorisation (SCA), tender documentation and technical specifications.Provide technical assessment of tender submissions and report recommendations.Prepare, review and approve drawings and specifications.Ensure civil engineering designs and construction practices are in accordance with current legislation, policies and operational requirements.Provide technical support to Project Unit teams on matters concerning the design and construction  of civil/structural elements of the works.Take responsibility and accountability for civil engineering designs and maintaining necessary quality processesInvestigate technological advances and industry best practice. Lead the evaluation and apply innovation, 'new ideas', technical developments, new equipment and alternative-working methods to provide cost savings, efficiencies and improved safety.Define the training needs assessment for new products and standards etc and the development and delivery of technical, construction and safety training packages.Liaise across multi disciplinary engineering teams to provide integrated solutions for SP Transmission.Coach and mentor the civil engineering team including graduates, students and junior engineers. What you'll bringMasters Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with relevant experience.Incorporated/Chartered Civil Engineer or working towards membership of an appropriate professional body.Experienced professional in the electricity transmission sectorExperience of carbon management and sustainability relating to energy sectorExperience of BIM.Specialist knowledge and experience of civil engineering design required for electrical network transmission and distribution projects (earthworks, access roads, drainage, foundations, structures and portal frame buildings).Experience with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Autodesk AEC suite, Staad Pro, TEDDS, Microdrainage.Excellent inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments and businesses.Experience of health & safety requirements, in particular, compliance and CDM Designer/Principal Designer roles.Knowledge of SP Energy Networks or other industry technical specifications.What's in it for you As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
