Ethics and PGR Programme Officer
Oxford Lifelong Learning in the Department for Continuing Education is seeking to appoint an administrative officer working in the area of Research Ethics and Postgraduate Programme support.
About the role
The role will be responsible for supporting postgraduate research work across the department, with areas of responsibility divided across research ethics, postgraduate programme support and research development. The role will support the Departmental Research Ethics Committee (DREC) Chair and manage the relevant committee business. This role will also oversee the Postgraduate (PGR)/Graduate School administrative team, as well as attending and contributing to relevant departmental committees, and liaising with other University committees as needed. The role will also provide some support and cover for the Research Development Manager on research-related business.
This is a full-time position, available on a permanent contract.
About you
You will have experience of overseeing staff and administrative processes, managing projects and/or events. Although experience of working in the area of university administration might be an advantage (as would an understanding of ethics and research integrity), applications from experienced administrators from other sectors wishing to acquire new skills in a new environment would be welcome.
You will need excellent time management and communication skills and experience of conveying detailed and complex policies and procedures to a variety of audiences. You might have experience of working on committees and/or boards alongside an ability to prepare well-presented reports in a timely manner and to communicate confidently working in support of senior members of staff. You will have experience of working confidentially, with the ability to exercise an appropriate level of discretion. You will need a good level of numeracy, with experience producing and evaluating data. A high level of accuracy as well as an ability to manage a varied workload will also be essential to this role.
