We are seeking a
Senior Commercial Tutor
to lead and deliver high-quality training across a range of engineering disciplines within our Commercial Upskilling environment.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional standards of teaching and learning, developing bespoke training programmes, and supporting the professional growth of both learners and staff. This role blends technical expertise, leadership, and a passion for developing others to achieve world-class results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure high-quality teaching, learning and assessment standards, maintaining full compliance with Make UK and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the
    main point of contact
    for all commercial and upskilling training enquiries.
  • Support the
    Commercial Manager
    in managing local budget centres and achieving financial and operational targets.
  • Develop and deliver
    bespoke training packages
    to meet customer needs, both on-site and off-site.
  • Conduct
    Internal Quality Assurance (IQA)
    activities, ensuring all documentation and standards are up to date.
  • Plan and coordinate
    training programmes, staff, and resources
    efficiently.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Commercial Training team, ensuring delivery excellence.
  • Prepare and present performance reports, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Uphold all
    Health & Safety
    and welfare obligations across training delivery.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as required to support the success of the department.

About You

An experienced technical tutor or engineer with a strong teaching background, proven leadership skills, and a drive to deliver outstanding learning experiences.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Time-served apprentice with a
    Level 4 qualification
    or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher
    in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Level 3 (or higher) teaching qualification
    (minimum PTLLS).
  • A1 and V1 Assessor and Verifier qualifications
    .
  • Broad subject knowledge across key areas such as:
  • Machining, Mechanical Maintenance, CAD/CAM
  • Mathematics, Pneumatics, Hydraulics
  • Robotics, Automation, Welding
  • Mechanical Principles, Engineering Materials, Business Systems
  • Electrical and Electronic Principles, Health & Safety

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong understanding of training standards, assessment, and quality assurance.
  • Proven experience managing and developing teams in a training or educational environment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and delivering against KPIs.
