Head of People and Learning & Development

Middlemore are currently partnering with a leading professional services organisation to hire a
Head of People and Learning & Development
. This is a pivotal appointment that will play a central role in shaping the future of the People function across the UK and Europe.

Acting as a thought partner to the People & Culture Director, this role will lead and elevate the effectiveness of HR Operations, HR Business Partnering and Learning & Development, shaping strategy whilst providing hands-on leadership of a large, multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor and deputy to the People Director, developing and implementing the People strategy.
  • Oversee HR Operations, HR Business Partnering and L&D across the UK and Europe.
  • Improve user experience, drive operational consistency and enhance governance across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring scalable processes that support rapid expansion across Europe.
  • Transform L&D from an operational training function into a future-focused, learning-centric capability.
  • Build learning pathways, leadership development programmes and a clear succession and future-skills strategy aligned with a maturing "learning culture."
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team, providing coaching, capability-building and professional development.
  • Reset the HRBP function's credibility and strengthen its ability to operate strategically and commercially.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Broad HR experience with a strong leaning toward talent, learning and organisational development.
  • Significant European (or wider international) HR experience.
  • A track record of improving user experience across HRBP, HR Operations and L&D functions.
  • Experience in professional services, consulting, financial services, partnership-based environments or similar.
  • High commercial awareness and comfort in fast-moving, growth-oriented settings.
