About the Role

Gigawatt Industries is expanding and we are looking for a highly capable Civil Operations Manager to take ownership of the civil delivery across our national EV charging programme.

This is a senior operational role. Our civils include full site preparation, excavations, ducting, service trenches, concrete foundations for chargers and substations, feeder pillar and cabinet installations, drainage adjustments, kerb works, bollards, surfacing, reinstatement and coordination with electrical teams. The person we need must understand the complete civil package required to deliver a fully functioning EV charging site.

You will manage multiple civil installation teams made up of a Team Leader, Machine Operator and Skilled Labourer, ensuring that every project is delivered safely, on specification, on programme and on budget. With sites running across the country, you must be confident planning, coordinating, problem solving and communicating through both our field operations and our digital systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Take operational responsibility for all civil engineering works across multiple EV charging projects
• Manage and support civil teams to deliver work safely, efficiently and to specification
• Plan weekly and daily programmes, allocate resources and keep teams aligned to deadlines
• Oversee full civil installation including excavations, ducting, drainage, concrete bases, formwork, foundations, kerbs, bollards, surfacing and reinstatement
• Coordinate closely with electrical supervisors and project managers on route planning and installation sequencing
• Use internal software platforms to update progress, manage documentation, track tasks and report risks
• Carry out site audits, quality inspections and compliance checks
• Resolve site issues quickly, maintain strong communication and keep projects moving forward
• Drive performance, quality and accountability across all civil teams
• Maintain high standards of health and safety and ensure RAMS are followed

What We're Looking For

• Background in civil engineering for utilities, EV charging, highways, fibre, power networks or similar
• Experience working within an ICP environment or on projects involving DNOs or IDNOs
• Understanding of civils associated with grid connections including duct routes, joint bays, substation bases and POC preparation
• Experience managing multiple civil crews across different sites
• Confident using computers and software systems for scheduling, reporting and communication
• Strong understanding of trenching, ducting, reinstatement, concrete works and general groundworks
• Ability to read drawings and issue clear programmes of work
• Strong communicator who can motivate teams and maintain control of deadlines
• Highly organised with excellent problem solving skills
• Full UK driving licence
• SMSTS, SSSTS or NRSWA is an advantage
