Finance Manager – Traditional Industrial Manufacturer (Bradford)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a long-established industrial manufacturer with a proud heritage and a strong customer base across the UK and Europe. Built on quality, reliability, and service, the company has an annual turnover approaching £4m and is now bringing its finance function fully in-house for the first time.
The Opportunity
As Finance Manager, you'll be the company's first dedicated finance lead — taking full responsibility for the day-to-day financial management while also supporting the directors in strategic planning and business growth.
This is a
hands-on, varied role
suited to someone who enjoys both managing the details and contributing to bigger-picture decisions. You'll oversee all core finance processes — from ledgers, payroll, and reporting through to cash flow, budgeting, and liaising with external advisors.
Working closely with the directors and the firm's external accountants, you'll ensure that the business remains financially sound, compliant, and positioned for sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of all financial operations within the business
- Manage purchase and sales ledgers, ensuring accuracy and timely processing
- Maintain strong cash flow management and oversee debtor control
- Produce weekly and monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and KPI reports for directors
- Prepare and monitor budgets, highlighting variances and opportunities for improvement
- Run weekly and monthly payroll
- Oversee invoice financing and maintain relationships with funding partners
- Coordinate with external accountants for month-end and year-end close
- Support directors with financial insight, cost analysis, and process development
About You
This role will suit a proactive, confident finance professional with the initiative to build and run a small but critical function. You'll be comfortable managing all aspects of the finance cycle and keen to contribute to commercial decisions as the company continues to grow.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in an SME finance role — ideally within manufacturing, engineering, or distribution
- Strong working knowledge of Sage (or similar) accounting software
- Experience managing ledgers of £300k+ and producing management accounts
- Solid understanding of cash flow, budgeting, and invoice finance
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work closely with directors and suppliers
- A self-starter mindset with a high level of accuracy and ownership
The Package
- Competitive salary (dependent on experience)
- Hours: Monday–Friday 8:30am–5:00pm (early 2:30pm finish Fridays)
