Company Accountant – Traditional Industrial Manufacturer (Bradford)

proud heritage and a diverse client base spanning the UK and Europe. The business is built
on quality, reliability, and service, and with annual turnover approaching £4m, it's now ready
to bring its finance function in-house for the first time.
The Opportunity
As the company's first dedicated finance hire, you'll take full ownership of the day-to-day
financial operations. This is a very hands-on position — ideal for someone who enjoys rolling
up their sleeves and taking responsibility for everything from ledgers to payroll to
management reporting.
You'll work closely with the directors and external accountants, ensuring the business
remains financially robust and well-prepared for continued growth. This is a great chance to
join a stable, well-respected organisation at a pivotal time in its development.
Key Responsibilities
● Manage purchase and sales ledgers, ensuring accurate and timely processing
● Actively manage debtor control — confident picking up the phone to bring the ledger down and maintain strong cash flow
● Complete bank reconciliations and monitor cash positions
● Produce weekly and monthly management reports for the directors
● Run weekly and monthly payroll
● Oversee invoice financing and liaise with funding partners
● Work closely with the company's firm of accountants at month-end and year-end
● Support the directors with ad hoc reporting, cost analysis, and process improvement initiatives
About You
This role will suit a practical, proactive finance professional who's comfortable taking
ownership and getting things done. You'll be confident managing the transactional detail but
also have the ambition to grow into a broader finance leadership role as the business expands.
You'll ideally have:
● Proven experience managing ledgers of £300k+
● Excellent vendor and supplier relationship skills
● Experience using Sage accounting software
● Good knowledge of invoice financing and cash flow management
● Strong communication skills and a hands-on approach
● A self-starter attitude with great attention to detail
The Package:
● Competitive salary
● Hours: Monday–Friday 8:30am–5:00pm (early 2:30pm finish Fridays)
● Flexibility during busy periods (month-end, year-end, etc.)
