Role Summary

Reporting to the Head of Organic Social, the Social Media Team Lead is responsible for leading a portfolio of client accounts and managing a team of social media specialists. This role blends hands-on social expertise with leadership and coaching to ensure the team consistently delivers exceptional results aligned with client KPIs.

You'll be accountable for delivery excellence, client satisfaction, and team development. While you'll support commercial conversations when needed, your focus will be on performance, content quality, strategic leadership, and innovation across the team's portfolio.

Core Responsibilities

Client Delivery & Results

  • Own day-to-day delivery for a portfolio of social media clients (B2B and B2C).
  • Lead strategy development across multiple platforms (Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
  • Oversee the creation and execution of content plans that drive measurable results (engagement, reach, conversions, follower growth).
  • Ensure 80%+ of client KPIs are consistently on track.
  • Host inspiring, collaborative client workshops to align goals, unlock insights, and set strategic direction.
  • Act as an escalation point for client delivery issues, resolving challenges quickly with support from the Head of Organic Social.

Quality & Process

  • Maintain accountability for the quality and performance of all social deliverables.
  • Review and approve content calendars, campaign plans, reports, and strategic documents before client submission.
  • Champion best practice and innovative approaches within the social team.
  • Implement quarterly quality checks to maintain a 95%+ pass rate across deliverables.

People Leadership

  • Line manage and coach a team of social media specialists, helping them develop technically and strategically.
  • Set clear objectives, lead regular 121s, and oversee performance reviews.
  • Provide mentoring and upskilling support, ensuring high standards of delivery and communication.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture that reflects Liberty's values (Accountable, Brave, Curious).
  • Lead team onboarding, training, and capability-building initiatives.

Commercial Awareness

  • Forecast and ROI modelling for clients.
  • Identify upsell or cross-sell opportunities and flag them for follow-up.
  • Contribute to new business proposals and pitches, providing subject-matter expertise and strategic input when required.

  • Client KPI Achievement: 80%+ of client KPIs on track.
  • Pitch Win Rate: 33% success rate on pitches led or signed off.
  • Service level: between 90–110%
  • Billable utilisation: 70%+
  • Team Development: All team members have up-to-date KPIs and development plans

The Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years of social media experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or mentoring capacity.
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering social media strategies across key platforms.
  • Confident leading workshops and strategic sessions with clients.
  • Skilled in content planning, platform innovation, and performance reporting.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to link activity to client outcomes.
  • Strong leadership skills, able to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Experienced working across a variety of sectors (e.g., B2B, finance, education, retail/ecomm).
  • Organised, adaptable, and highly collaborative.
