The Pen & Pencil is currently looking for an experienced and dynamic Commis Chef to join the team. We are an independent bar/restaurant in the heart of Manchester's buzzing Northern Quarter and we have a great reputation for brunch, lunch, cocktails, music, events and private hire.

The Restaurant and Bar is fun, friendly, stylish and lively. We have established ourselves as a great place for food & drink, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

We're looking for a motivated individual to join our team; if you think you fit the following description then please send us your CV and a short covering letter.

Liaising with the Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef and General Manager you will be expected to do the following;

  • Have strong interpersonal skills with a lot of personality and individuality.
  • At least 1 year experience in a busy fresh food bar/restaurant environment.
  • You will need to be focused and keen.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Be forward thinking and dynamic, ensuring the kitchen is performing to its best at all times.
  • Be 100% focused on delivering great food at all times.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Full understanding of food and hygiene standards.

The successful candidate will have 1+ years experience in a well-regarded restaurant/bar environment and be passionate about building a career in hospitality.
