On behalf of FCDO, we are looking for a Regional Asset Management Surveyor (Inside IR35) for a 12 month hybrid contract based in London.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) pursues our national interests and projects the UK as a force for good in the world. We promote the interests of British citizens, safeguard the UK's security, defend our values, reduce poverty, and tackle global challenges with our international partners.
As a Regional Asset Management Surveyor, your main responsibilities will be:
- Reporting to the Head of Asset Management (an RICS Chartered Surveyor) you will be accountable for driving global real estate optimisation and realising the strategic aims of stakeholders and platform users. We require cost effective, commercial and sustainable real estate solutions for the global network.
- To travel, often at short notice, and sometimes to challenging locations. You will travel regularly and extensively overseas as you develop your understanding of the estate, identify where interventions are needed and build your stakeholder network, which will include Ambassadors, Deputy Heads of Missions, Heads of Corporate Services and Estates Managers.
- Using both transactional and asset management experience, you will undertake some transactional activities whilst leading the asset management objectives for a geographical region. You will have discretion over whether you undertake transactions yourself or instruct our professional services providers.
- To work collaboratively with property professionals across the surveying, project delivery, security, operations and procurement disciplines. You will need to communicate to a high level and to understand the technical challenges of delivering projects overseas whilst managing expectations and pressure to deliver projects quickly. We must ensure our activities are integrated to successfully deliver maximum impact overseas.
- To be available as 'first port of call' for professional advice and act as a 'sounding board' for any specific professional issues that colleagues in the overseas network, stakeholders and non-surveying colleagues may come across.
- Own the strategic asset management agenda for a defined geographical area/region. Develop asset management strategies that fit into our broader Global Asset Management Plan, whilst leading on both the strategic and operational implementation of these plans. You will be expected to analyse and maintain the estates data that underpins the planned actions.
Essential:
- MRICS, or equivalent, with significant post qualification experience.
- Demonstrable property/surveying track record, including negotiating agreements, applying estates data and financial modelling, asset management databases and software packages.
- Strategic and/or portfolio asset management experience with a proven track record of delivering results at asset or portfolio level.
- Ability to undertake frequent overseas visits to challenging environments, occasionally at short notice.
- Ability to deliver commercial results / output to tight deadlines is crucial. Delivering business cases / investment papers.
