We are a small team at the newly reopened, independent pub, The Lord Southampton, on the borders between Kentish Town, Belsize Park and Hampstead Heath. As the weather is starting to cool down we are looking for some new people to help grow the business and add to our team We have a small kitchen serving a changing menu of good quality food, made in house with good quality ingredients.

Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join the team in a fast-paced culinary environment. The Kitchen Porter plays a crucial role in supporting the kitchen staff by ensuring that the kitchen is clean, organised, and well-equipped for food preparation. This position is ideal for individuals looking to start or advance their career in the hospitality and culinary sectors.

The ideal candidate would be looking for hours per week and have some existing kitchen experience.

Must be Available Weekends

Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, including washing dishes, pots, and pans.
  • Assist with food preparation tasks as directed by chefs or cooks.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use.
  • Help with the organisation of kitchen supplies and ingredients.
  • Support chefs during busy service periods by providing assistance as needed.
  • Dispose of waste appropriately and ensure recycling practices are followed.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.

Skills

  • Previous experience in a hospitality or restaurant setting is advantageous but not essential.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques is beneficial.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, with a willingness to help others in the kitchen.
  • A proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Good communication skills to liaise effectively with kitchen staff.
